Every event hosted by LJFSC requires countless hours of planning, organization, coordination, and support both on and off the ice from SKATERS and PARENTS.
***We sincerely thank every individual and family who contributes their time and effort to support the skating community***
Annual Events
La Jolla Open (3rd week of April)
The La Jolla Open is our premier annual competition and the largest event hosted by the club each year. The competition applies annually to be part of the Excel Series where skater have the chance to earn scores to qualify for the annual Excel Series Festival. This exciting competition spans three full days and welcomes over 350 skaters, more than 80 coaches, 30+ judges and officials, families and spectators from across the region.
Hosting an event of this scale requires tremendous teamwork and volunteer support. Volunteers assist with set-up/clean-up, registration, hospitality, ice monitoring, runner coordination, and many other important roles that help ensure the competition runs smoothly and professionally. Participation is coordinated through your private coach, volunteer opportunities are sent out by email before the competition.
Skate by the Sea (3rd week of August)
Skate by the Sea is a smaller local competition that provides skaters with a welcoming and supportive competitive experience. This event is especially valuable for first-time competitors or athletes looking to gain experience in a smaller venue. Because of its friendly atmosphere and shorter schedule, Skate by the Sea is often a favorite event for families and newer competitors.
As with all club events, volunteers play a critical role in ensuring skaters and families have a positive and enjoyable experience.
